Yesterdays session was much about the negative, unintended consequences of diversity quotas - not just on opportunities, but also on the work itself. We ended with a view that what is sorely needed is more equity investment for screen projects, and government support to incentive private money into our industry, rather than only financing international production incentives, and funding bodies who are gatekeepers and judgement panels for our work - even though evidence shows that the films they finance fair worse commercially that projects financed with private money. There is a lot to this -- and it is an idea well supported by Dr David Court. Stay tuned!
